Reading Tutoring for Primary School
When teaching the ‘Keys to Reading’ program we always focus on the question “WHY?” The reality is, if a child asks why something is the way it is, then they are clearly engaged in the subject. ‘Keys’ teaches all aspects of literacy by answering the WHY behind how words are read, spelt, and written in a grammatically correct sentence. This allows for the student to associate meaning to the word and therefore remember its spelling and application in reading and writing. Children are given the opportunity to use the newly learned skill in their everyday experience of communication, reading, and writing. These skills are integrated and cemented into memory and recalled more effectively because they understand WHY. So often children, particularly those who are predominantly visual, can see when the spelling of a word is incorrect but have no skills to fix it. ‘Keys to Reading’ explains the reasons behind and provides the skills for a confident application of the rules.
Exclusive To our Centres
Teaching ‘Keys to Reading’ at our Centres has confirmed that the strategy of asking ‘WHY’ before telling them ‘WHAT’ is the basis for the successful acquisition of skills in Literacy for any age. Understanding WHY triggers the section of the brain that factors in trust and emotion, which as a result cements the skills into memory, allowing for more effective recall. Across all Centres, we have taught thousands of children to read, write, and spell using the ‘Keys to Reading’ program since 2004. There are only four centres that are licensed to use this effective program and have teachers highly trained in Keys. Keys to Reading is therefore exclusive to our Centres only. Our success rate with children and adults alike who have had difficulties with literacy is a testimony to the effectiveness of the ‘Keys to Reading program’ and the expertise of our highly qualified and passionate teachers.
