Comprehension
Comprehension For Primary School
The high standards required by NAPLAN, Selective Schools exams and Scholarship exams necessitate an above average level of skill in interpreting the inferred meanings in text. Our Centres realise this, we know students need to be able to interpret the inferred meaning in texts to comprehend them clearly. Comprehension is an essential skill across all subjects, even mathematics.
Students need to:
Understand the 3 stages of comprehension: literal, inferential and evaluative.
Understand the concept and identify inferences gained from a text.
Explain inferences both verbally and in written form.
