Our ‘one to one’ programs are based on the current strengths and needs of each child and are designed to take each child forward from where they are now.
All individual sessions concentrate on developing confidence and proficiency by teaching strategies in reading and writing.
Every student’s progress is monitored; regular communication is encouraged with parents and schools.
We specialise in early intervention for children who are making limited progress in reading and writing in the first years of school.
Different programs are available to meet the individual needs of the child. Session times are available during and out of school hours.
The Spalding Method
The Spalding Method allows your child to learn to read and spell through writing – it is a strong, phonic, visual program. “The writing road to reading”
The rules of the English Language are taught, enabling your child , to understand and improve their reading and spelling skills.
Comprehension Skills
We use “Visualising and Verbalising”: techniques for language comprehension and the development of higher order/critical thinking skills.
Pre-School Programs
Pre-school assessment and School Readiness classes are designed to help children before going to school. This gives them confidence and specific instruction in:
Pre-writing skills
Letter Formation
Correct pencil grip
Line and shape discrimination
Early reading strategies
Basic Number Concepts
Techniques to aid visual and auditory sequential memory (This develops the ability to remember sight words – phonemes)
The classes focus on skills that aid children in their first year of school. The classes do not duplicate pre-school programs. The program works on early literacy/numeracy to develop and strengthen underlying skills which support the education process.
Numeracy
Our one-to-one programs are an ideal way to revise, consolidate and extend numeracy knowledge skills and strategies.
We cater for children struggling to keep pace with their peers, as well as students requiring extension.
PRIMARY - We use a hands on approach specifically working from concrete to abstract concepts.
HIGH SCHOOL – All teachers are up-to-date with curriculum requirements and are experienced high school maths teachers
Essay Writing
We have specialised teachers who focus on improving students’ writing skills in different text types.
